This article examines the manner in which the Trumpcare plan and platform will impact the Medicare system.

The real estate tycoon told CPAC in 2013 that Republicans should not cut Social Security or Medicare because most Americans want to keep the benefits as they stand now.

Though he has proposed absolutely nothing, and said relatively little on the subject, Trump tweeted in May that he knows "where to get the money from" and "nobody else does."[1]

 

Despite Trump's strong words above, and without reversing the campaign's position, one of his advisers made statements in May indicating that Medicare and other entitlements were not as untouchable as they seemed. He said "We’ll start taking a hard look at those to start seeing what we can do in a bipartisan way.[2]
